How to install Server and Application Monitor?

● Discover the devices

● Add applications and discovered servers to SAM.

● After executing the installer, you will get the User Account Control menu on the desktop.

● Press on the Yes button.

● You will get the initializing menu on the screen.

● Now, you will get the SolarWinds Setup window on the desktop.

● You will get the three options on the screen.

● Choose the Lightweight Installation option.

● Click on the Next button.

● You can view the Server and Application Monitor menu.

● Press on the Next button.

● Wait till the downloading and installing of the program gets completed on the system.

● At last, after finishing the configuration window.

● Press on the Finish option.

● Discover the devices


1. You will get the web console on the screen which is also known as the Orion web console.

2. The first thing you have to do is to enter a new password.

3. Press on the Enter option.

4. It will open the Discovery webpage where you need to monitor the applications and server.

5. Before moving forward and press on the Start option.

6. It is suggested to type the details.

7. Press on the Start menu.

8. Enter the IP addresses or IP ranges of the device which you wish to monitor.

9. Start adding the nodes to SAM through the Active Directory Domain Controller by entering the sign-in information and hostname.

10. Go to the VMware vCenter server, type the sign-in information.

11. Press on the Next option.

12. By going to the Agents pane, in case you need nodes through the agents.

13. Ensure that you have checkmark the 'Check all existing nodes polled by an agent' option.

14. Press on the Next button.

15. By going to the SNMP option, in case you want to check whether the SNMP is turned on or not, then type the sign-in information.

16. Press on the Next button.

17. Below the Monitoring Settings tab, you can select the polling method.

18. You need to give an option to choose the things which you wish to monitor.

19. Choose the Automatically monitor based on defined monitoring settings tab.

20. Otherwise, choose the 'Manually set up monitoring after devices are discovered the option.

21. Press on the Define Monitoring Settings tab.

22. Press on the Next option.

23. Choose the Status, Port Mode, and hardware option.

24. Below the Advanced filtering tab, start adding a particular phrase.

25. At last, press on the Discover option.
